Contemporary Vocal Studio - Audition

A short audition will be conducted for this course.  You will need to enrol for the audition. Please prepare: a verse and a chorus from 2 contrasting songs (eg a ballad and an uptempo song) to be sung a cappella. There will also be some vocal exercises to be given on the day. Soul Ensemble -Audition

These classes are designed to introduce the student to a broad range of classic Soul and Rhythm ’n’ Blues music styles. Key features of this broad genre are revealed through the performance of historically important repertoire from the 1950s/60s/70s through to the present era. How to apply All students must enrol in an audition to be considered to join the Rising Stars Program. Applications are invited from students who have been playing their instrument for at least 3 years and are over the age of 10. Backline and frontline instrumentalists are welcome to apply. There are 2 rounds. A video round (due Friday 18th July), and a live round (held from 1pm on July 26).

Students will be extending the knowledge and skills that they gained in the Jazz Piano 1st Steps level 1 course.  By studying classic jazz tunes from the Great American Songbook and by many of the jazz masters, students will develop a deeper understanding of jazz harmony as well as melodies and rhythms unique to the jazz idiom.
