Contemporary Vocal Studio - Audition

A short audition will be conducted for this course.  You will need to enrol for the audition. Please prepare: a verse and a chorus from 2 contrasting songs (eg a ballad and an uptempo song) to be sung a cappella. There will also be some vocal exercises to be given on the day. These classes are designed to introduce the student to a broad range of classic Soul and Rhythm ’n’ Blues music styles. Students will be extending the knowledge and skills that they gained in the Jazz Piano 1st Steps level 1 course.  By studying classic jazz tunes from the Great American Songbook and by many of the jazz masters, students will develop a deeper understanding of jazz harmony as well as melodies and rhythms unique to the jazz idiom.
